Spiritual Oversight

Today’s Survey-An Important Step Toward Calling Our Next Pastor

Every congregation that is in the process of calling a Pastor needs to fill out a survey from the District. It gives everyone an opportunity for input on how we see our congregation and what would be most helpful in our next pastor. It is used by the District in giving names of pastors to be considered. The first 10 minutes of both services today will be a time for everyone 12 years old and older to fill it out. Your input is valued!

Call Committee

The Call Committee, according to our constitution, cannot consist of more than nine people.  If you would like to be on it, please speak with our congregational President, Chris Mowers, or the Call Committee Chairman, Stan Bucrek by Sunday October 28. Already more than nine people have volunteered. However, it needs to be a cross section of the congregation so let us know if you are willing to serve.  Please also understand if you are not on the committee.

The Input of Everyone in the Call Process is Sought

That includes (1) participation in the survey this week (2) there will be an opportunity to nominate pastors you may know (3) the congregation will select from more than one candidate at the voters meeting that will issue the call. We anticipate issuing a call sometime in the first quarter of 2019.

Servant Lists

This week we had some networking issues and, in the process, changes to the Servant schedules were overwritten by older files. We are making the corrections. If you see your name in the servant section or receive and email that no longer pertains, kindly let the office know. It may already be fixed but we would like to check.

Sunday’s Readings Bible Study

Every Sunday we hear three Bible readings in the Divine Service. These Bible readings reflect the current church calendar and usually serve as the basis for the sermon. This Bible study helps them come to life. This class meets in the Upper Room, the divided portion of the Large Fellowship Hall.

Matthew Chapter 5

What does it mean to follow Jesus? That will be the question we return to repeatedly as we study the Gospel of Matthew one chapter at a time. This class is during the education hour between services. Hope you can be with us.

Fresh Brew

“The Lord’s Prayer” ‘Lord teach us to pray.’ This was the request of Jesus’ disciples. Fresh Brew will use a variety of resources to explore the content and discipline of prayer. Join us for this helpful discussion that will enrich your life as a follower of Jesus. Next Sunday, “Lead us not into temptation.” Fresh Brew meets on Sunday mornings at 7:30 am in the Large Fellowship Hall.

Bible Faith Milestone: Places Scripture in Hands and Homes

This milestone is designed for 3rd and 4th graders and anyone grades 3-6 who may have missed this faith milestone in previous years. This milestone gathers children and caregivers around God’s Word as they use, read, study, and play in the Bible. In this way, children not only receive Bibles, but are encouraged to use them together with their families. This is a 2-part milestone. The parent/child workshop will be TODAY, Sunday, October 21 from 4:30-6 pm. The worship blessing will be on Sunday, October 28.
