Welcome

Today we welcome by Rite of Baptism Cole James Orlowski. Cole is the son of Stephanie and Greg Orlowski. His sponsors are Brittany and Nate Duell.

 

Spiritual Oversight

Lenten Services.

Supper and Service continue through April 10. Join us for simple supper at 6 pm followed by a devotional service at 7 pm. May the Lord bless our Lenten reflection.

 There will be a Lenten Vespers service on Saturday, April 20 at 7:00

 

 

Christian Education

Sunday School

Classes will meet in the lower level from 9:45-10:45. Classes will study the story, “Mary and Martha.”

 

Fresh Brew

We are now looking at “The Blessings of Baptism.” You are invited to join us at 7:30 a.m. for some great Bible study, good conversation and a fresh cup of coffee.

 

Monday Women’s Bible Study

The Ladies Bible study meets on Monday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. We will continue our discussion of “Mere Christianity.” If you have the book, read the chapters “Hope” and “Faith” through page 150.

 

Men’s Saturday Morning Bible Study

Men enjoy a healthy breakfast. We have begun a new study “The Message of James.” Now would be a great time to join us. We will meet next Saturday, April 6. Breakfast is served at 8:30 am.

 

New Bible Study option coming soon!

Ladies are invited to join a Bible study on Thursdays, April 4- May 16, from 1:00-2:30 pm. We will take up the Armor of God, authored by Priscilla Shirer, and grow together in the strength of the Lord as we “struggle against the spiritual forces of wickedness.” Sally Bucrek will facilitate the 7-week DVD based sessions and ladies will continue personal study using a workbook during the week. We had enough requests to have this study at 6:30 p.m. also.

 

Family Ministry

Kids’ Connection During the 11 am Divine Service

This activity is a time for 3-year-olds through 2nd-grade students during the 11:00 am Divine Service. The lesson today is “The Good Samaritan” found in Luke 10:25–37. Children leave for Kids’ Connection after the children’s message and return when the offering is received so that they may participate in a blessing at Holy Communion as well as the close of the worship service.

 

Early Communion Faith Milestone

The next workshop is on April 14 from 4:30-6 pm. The Faith Milestone Blessing will be at the Maundy Thursday service on April 18th at 7 pm.

 

Upcoming Faith Milestone – Prayer – 1st and 2nd grade

Vacation Bible School

Mark your calendars for our VBS, Miraculous Mission.
Dates for 2019 are July 29 – August 2.

Lift off for an intergalactic adventure with Miraculous Mission: Jesus Saves the World. Explore God’s miraculous mission and learn about His plan of salvation from creation to the cross!

There are lots of ways you can help with VBS. You can help create the scenery, organize receiving of donated supplies, Be a teacher, or a helper. VBS Volunteer Training will be held on May 19, 2019.

 

Youth

National Youth Gathering Fund Raising Update Through a variety of events Youth Gathering Participant families have raised $6136.00. In addition, families have each paid $150.00 per person for registration fees. Funds that remain to be raised are $8055.80. This amount funds 16 students attending the National Youth Gathering this summer. Upcoming Fund Raisers in our church family will include:

Serving Lunch for the Call Meeting of the Voter’s Assembly (date to be determined)

The Giving Wall will return during the month of April
Easter Breakfast served on April 21, 8:45 – 10:45 a.m.
Dinner Theater and Silent Auction on May 18
Hosting Sunday Morning Hospitality on May 19

There may also be a posting of a Go Fund Me page in the near future. If you have taken envelopes from the Giving Wall from the previous posting, they may be put in the Sunday Morning offering.

 

Compassionate Care

Open Shop Days

Daisy’s Food Pantry offers open shop days every Wednesday between 1pm-4pm. Our food pantry helps households in our community bridge out of crisis. Families can shop 6 times a year in our pantry. No qualifications or appointments are needed. Please spread the word so we can reach more people in our community.

 

 

Do You Like to Sew?

The Quilters need people who can help sew the tops of the quilts. This can be done at home or join the Quilters for conversation while you sew. Contact Julia Childress for more information: 810-231-2331.

 

Fellowship

EASTER EGG HUNT:

The Easter Egg Hunt on April 20 at 10am will be an excellent time for you to invite your neighbors, friends, and family to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Families love to bring their children to play games, do crafts, hunt for eggs, and hear the joy of the good news of Jesus. As you invite your friends to the Easter Egg Hunt, we encourage you to also invite them to worship with us on Easter Sunday at
8 am, 9:30 am, or 11 am.

 

LCMS Events

LWML Spring Fling

Ladies of St. Paul are invited to attend the Ann Arbor Area Zone Rally, Saturday April 13, 2019, at Christ Our King Lutheran Church, 3255 Waterworks Road, Saline, Michigan. You do not need to be an active LWML member to attend the meeting and see how LWML groups can and do impact their church, their community and their world. Pastries and Registration at 9:00 am. 9:30 am begins Worship Meeting, Program, Lunch.

Guest Speaker Becky Grossmann has a Master’s Degree in Linguistics and is serving the Church in America and in Liberia with Lutheran Bible Translators

Registration Fee: a $5 Registration fee will be collected the day of the event for Becky Grossmann to use to purchase bricks for repair work or help build homes in Liberia.

Free-Will Offering will be collected for the Zone during the event.

Ingathering for Liberian children: Christian story and coloring books, crayons, scissors, and popsicle molds. (A school staff person makes and sells Popsicles to raise money for the school.)

Pregnancy Help Clinic

Pregnancy Help Clinic supports women by providing vital life-affirming information, as well as resources and parenting support until their children turn 3 years old. We can support life in Livingston County by attending the Celebration of Life fundraising event on Thursday, April 25, 2019. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com

 

LACASA

LACASA Center’s annual “Drive Out Child Abuse” Celebrity Golf Scramble is held on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Lakelands Golf & Country Club.

All proceeds help vulnerable victims of child abuse at LACASA Center. Your team will be named for a child who receives services at LACASA and will play for that child at this outing.

Golfers get to mix and mingle with pro-sports celebrities after the game for photos and autograph signings. Participants are encouraged to bring a piece of sports memorabilia for celebrities to sign.

The scramble starts at 9 a.m. and includes 18-holes of golf with cart, continental breakfast, snack pack, goody bag, ongoing silent auction, games, competitions, and a mid-afternoon awards dinner.
