Lent and Holy Week Services 2015

The Cost of Love 1The Cost of Love….

Join us for the journey of Lent as we look at what God’s love towards us cost Him, and in turn, what His love now cost us as we serve with our hearts, hands, and voices. The Lenten journey begins with Ash Wednesday, February 18.

February 18 – The cost of… Love’s Location

Ash Wednesday Services at Noon and 7pm

Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion

Luke 4:1-13 – We praise a God who came to dwell among us in His Son Christ Jesus. Have you ever thought about what that cost Him? What is your God-given location to now serve Him and proclaim the good news of salvation in Christ?

February 25 – The cost of… Tough Love

Simple Supper at 6pm and Evening Prayer at 7pm

Luke 13:31-35 – Our God is one of unending patience. But, is there a time to show some tough love? Has God shown us tough love?

March 4 – The cost of… Turning away

Simple Supper at 6pm and Evening Prayer at 7pm

Luke 13:1-9 – We’re called to a life of repentance and forgiveness. But, what’s holding you back from turning away from the things of this world to the love of God?

March 11 – The cost of… Unbound Love

Simple Supper at 6pm and Evening Prayer at 7pm

Luke 15:11-32 – Praise the Lord for His steadfast love, His love that never ends, a love that is truly unbound. What are the boundaries that you have tried to put on His love now pouring through you?

March 18 – The cost of… Transforming Love

Simple Supper at 6pm and Evening Prayer at 7pm

Luke 20:9-20 – Change is certainly never easy. Christ experienced change during His life leading to the cross. He experienced transformation. Now we have too in Him. How is that transformation going for you?

March 25 – Jews for Jesus Christ in the Passover Presentation

Simple Supper at 6pm and Christ in the Passover Presentation at 7pm

Alexander Adelson from Jews for Jesus will share with us how Christ is the fulfillment of the Passover.

Holy Week

April 2 – Maundy Thursday

Service of Holy Communion and Relinquishment at 7pm

The 40 days leading up to Easter are observed as a time of fasting and repentance. Is there something we can learn from Christ’s disciples in their spiritual struggles? Join us for a service that reminds us that our Lord Jesus Christ commended himself into His Father’s hands, thereby assuring us that He finished the work of our redemption.

April 3 – Good Friday Cost of… Life and Limb

Service at Noon and 7pm

Luke 19:28-40 – Our redemption was bought with a price, the death of our Savior. As we consider the celebrations of Christ’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, we also find our eyes turned to the cross, the cost of life and limb.

April 4 – Easter Vigil

Service at 7pm

The Easter Vigil begins with darkness. The darkness of the sanctuary and the night reminds us of all the meanings of darkness: evil thoughts, motivations, deeds, and all that we try to hide and keep secret. Then a light is struck. The new light breaks into the darkness. The Paschal Candle is lit from the new fire and is processed into the community. We receive the light and celebrate the Easter proclamation that Christ is Risen!

Come to this service. Arrive in the darkness and wonder who will roll the stone away from our darkness. Experience the joy that Christ is our salvation. Leave believing that the tomb is empty and that there is light in the midst of our darkness.

April 5 – Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord

Services at 8am, 9:30am, and 11am

The life of the believer moves from death to life as we remember the bathing waters of baptism and celebrate the meal of the Lord’s Supper.
