June 2017 St. Paul Newsletter Ready to Download

June 2017 Newsletter Web Edition The June 2017 newsletter from St. Paul Lutheran Church has articles to help you know how to join us in connecting people to Jesus, to each other, and to opportunities to serve their neighbors in need. Please note that the newsletter has the wrong date for the missionary visit. The proper date and time for the visit from James and Angela Sharp is Thursday, June 8 at 6:30pm. In this newsletter there is information about a study guide for the Netflix show, “13 Reasons Why.” (This is not a recommendation for parents, adults, or youth to watch this show.) Parents and youth workers in our church body have reported that the show is hitting home. They themselves – or young people whom they love – are dealing with suicide, attempted suicide, mental health issues, sexual sins, broken relationships and bullying. Talk to the youth in your life about the show. Are they watching it? Are other young people they know watching this show? What is making it popular? Listen to their responses. Be prepared to discuss the show or issues brought up on the show. You may find it helpful to use the study guide by Rev. Dr. Lucas Woodford to guide your discussions through this difficult topic. Download the study guide at the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod’s website: https://blogs.lcms.org/2017/study-guide-tackles-despair-of-13-reasons-why Also parents please take note that the Youth News page has helpful information for families with children in grades 4th – 12th grade. ]]>
