LENT BEGINS MARCH 6.
Ash Wednesday worship services that day will be at noon and 7 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, March 13 we will have a simple supper at 6 p.m. followed by a devotional service at 7 p.m. May the Lord bless our Lenten reflection.
Welcome Lutheran Choralaires!
On Wednesday, March 13 the Lutheran Choralaires will be our guests! This men’s chorus tours churches in the greater Detroit area during Lent. Dan Ragle is one of their members. Their anthems will add to our devotional service that night.
Classes will meet in the lower level from 9:45-10:45. Classes will study the story, “The Sower.”
Today we begin a new study on “The Gift of Baptism.” You are invited to join us at 7:30 a.m. for some great Bible study, good conversation and a fresh cup of coffee.
Pastor’s Sunday class
Dr. Scott Yakimow resumes his presentation and our discussion of ethics as
we consider the Christian response to challenges in society. Ethics is one of the classes he teaches at Concordia University in Ann Arbor. We appreciate his leading during this special education opportunity. This study will continue through Sunday, March 3.
REVELATION BIBLE STUDY will have their final sessions this Wednesday a 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. If you would like copies of the study sheets, contact Pastor Bob. He can email them to you or print them out.
Monday Women’s Bible Study
The Ladies Bible study meets on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. We will continue our discussion of “Mere Christianity.” If you have the book, read the chapter “Christian Marriage.” through page 114.
Men’s Saturday Morning Bible Study
Men enjoy a healthy breakfast. We will begin a new study “The Message of James.” We will meet next Saturday, March 2. Breakfast is served at 8:30 am.
New Bible Study option coming soon!
Ladies are invited to join a Bible study on Thursdays, April 4- May 16, from 1:00-2:30 pm. We will take up the Armor of God, authored by Priscilla Shirer, and grow together in the strength of the Lord as we “struggle against the spiritual forces of wickedness.” Sally Bucrek will facilitate the 7-week DVD based sessions and ladies will continue personal study using a workbook during the week.
Kids’ Connection During the 11 am Divine Service
This is a time for 3-year-olds through 2nd-grade students during the 11:00 am Divine Service. The lesson today is “Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man” found in Mark 2:1-12 Children leave for Kids’ Connection after the children’s message and return when the offering is received so that they may participate in a blessing at Holy Communion as well as the close of the worship service.
Welcoming Young Children to Church Faith Milestone Blessing
Worship blessing will be Today, Sunday, February 24 at the worship service you normally attend.
Early Communion Faith Milestone
As part of our Faith Milestones, St. Paul encourages those children who are ready to receive the Lord’s Supper before they are confirmed, an opportunity for parent/child workshops to learn about the Sacrament. Many children are ready to receive the Lord’s Supper in upper elementary when they understand these words, “given and shed for you.” Typically, children are often ready at 4th grade. Those who are interested in attending these series of workshops should see Miriam or email her at email@example.com. The workshops will be on March 3, 10, and April 14 from 4:30-6 pm. Lent in a Bag
Our Lenten Faith challenge invites families and individuals to focus attention on the Lenten season by using our “Lent in Bag” Devotion items. Lent in a Bag items will be available beginning on February 24.
Faith Family Reunion Retreat – Saturday, April 27 from 9 am – 3 pm
All of us have someone in our lives who has strayed away from faith in Jesus Christ. How can we reach out not only to the prodigal, but to the parents, families, and friends of prodigals who struggle to know what to do? Join us for a retreat, here at St. Paul, on these important issues and an introduction to a ministry opportunity that churches everywhere can easily implement. Jr. High Tool Time
Registration is now open for Jr. High Tool Time! Cost for St. Paul youth is $30 if you register by 3/1. Cost will go up to $40 if you register by 3/15 (last day of registration). St. Paul pays a portion of your cost of the event. You are welcome to bring a friend! Register here:
LCMS National Youth Gathering
16 students and 4 adults have committed to be a part of this community and event. Registration is still open for students and with the rooms we have reserved there is still space for both guys and girls. See me (Mike) for registration materials.
Youth Gathering Preparation
Next Bible study and preparation meeting for the whole group attending the National Youth Gathering is today, February 24 at 9:45am.
Chili Cook-off and Dessert Auction
The National Youth Gathering participants are hosting a chili cook-off and dessert auction on Sunday, March 3, from 5-6:30 pm. Tickets for tasters are $10 per person or $25 per family. Entry participants are free of charge. Do you have a prize-winning chili to enter? Ticket sales begin this Sunday! Make plans to attend this fun event and support our youth.
Jr. High Youth Gathering (grades 6-8)
Sign up for the Jr. High Youth Gathering to be held in Frankenmuth. Cost is $50 for St. Paul Youth. Registration due date is April 14th, along with your fees. For more details visit here:
Open Shop Days
Daisy’s Food Pantry offers open shop days every Wednesday between 1pm-4pm. Our food pantry helps households in our community bridge out of crisis. Families can shop 6 times a year in our pantry. No qualifications or appointments are needed. Please spread the word so we can reach more people in our community.
If you have not yet received your copy of the new pictorial directory, copies are in the library. Stop and get yours, even if you are not pictured. If you find any inaccuracies, please report them to the church office so corrections can be made before they are reprinted.
The deadline is coming soon to sign up for Old Time Religion being performed at Turkeyville Dinner Theatre in Marshall. A traditional turkey dinner is included! Lutheran Summer Music June 23 – July 21, 2019
Half Session: June 23- July 7, 2019
(LSM) is the nation’s premiere faith-based music academy for high school students. Held at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana, it boasts advanced musical instruction and numerous performance opportunities, LSM students form an intentional community, living together for four weeks on a Lutheran college campus. Since 1981, this unique and immersive program has guided the lives of young musicians, who credit LSM as the starting place for their future careers and vocations.
Lutheran Summer Music (LSM) is an immersive residential performance and training program for young musicians grades 8-12. Join over 25 nationally recognized faculty artists and a team of dedicated counselors in our supportive community.
Areas of study include Bassoon, Cello, Clarinet, Composition, Double Bass, Euphonium, Flute, Horn, Oboe, Organ, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Viola, Violin and Voice

LHSA 75th Anniversary Concert at Concordia University Ann Arbor – Sunday, March 3 – Reception 2:30 PM, Concert 4:00 PM
The LHSA is celebrating 75 years of local Christian education with choral and instrumental music, performed by the choirs and bands of Lutheran North, Northwest, and Westland.
