Holy Huddle

We gather at 9:45 am in the Activity Center, which is the house east of the main church building. This class is for 7th-8th graders and youth confirmation students. We are currently working on building friendships through Biblical truth.

Kathy Kless and Rene Tarleton lead this discussion and study for high school youth. We meet in Sunday school room #5 during the 9:45 am Education Hour. Take the opportunity to continue learning about Jesus and the Bible at Christians Under Construction.

Ancient History and the Bible

The Bible is history, and we can also find the Biblical events in history. This study currently is moving into the Intertestamental time of biblical and world history.

Kids’ Connection During the 11 am Divine Service

This is a time for 3-year-olds through 2nd-grade students at the 11:00 am Divine Service. This week we will learn about “Daniel and the Scary Sleepover” found in Daniel 6. Children leave for Kids’ Connection after the children’s message and return when the offering is received so that they may participate in a blessing at Holy Communion as well as the close of the worship service.

Monday Women’s Bible Study

The women will meet tomorrow, Monday, February 9, at 11:00 am. Our new topic is, “Go and Be Reconciled.” This topic is great for the congregation and our homes. It is a great time to join the study and discussion.

Men’s Saturday Morning Bible Study

Men enjoy a healthy breakfast and a thoughtful and challenging discussion on a video series, “A Man named Martin: The Movement.” This group meets Saturday mornings at 8:30 am.

God in the Real World: Fresh Brew and Pastor’s 9:45 am Study
A Bible study series of God at work in the lives of real people.

Mike Hausch at Fresh Brew and Pastor Gaertner at the Education Hour teach the same study in January and February. The eight sessions in this study connect the events of the Bible to our lives. Each session begins with an 8-minute video setting the stage of each Biblical event. The video was filmed on location in Israel and Palestine by Rev. Dr. Zelt who has led many groups to Israel and Palestine. The study is designed to promote growth in three ways: 1) Understanding the events in their original context, 2) thinking through the concepts or truths that God reveals through those events, and 3) processing how these truths apply to our lives. This study began January 14. It is taught at Fresh Brew (Sunday at 7:30 am) AND at Pastor’s Study during the Education Hour (9:45 am-10:45 am).

Early Communion Workshops – A Faith Milestone Event

The preparation for and receiving of first communion is a special milestone in your child’s faith journey. It is also a chance for parents and children to come together to grow together in faith. These workshops will use guided discussions for the parent(s) and child to talk about and prepare for receiving Holy Communion. During the last workshop day, the child will have a conversation with Pastor Gaertner about the Lord’s Supper. Typically, children in 4th grade and up are best able to understand the concepts of sin, forgiveness, and the Lord’s Supper. These workshops are open to confirmation students desiring to receive the Lord’s Supper. Dates for workshops are 2/25, 3/11, and 3/25. Please contact Miriam (miriam@stpaulhamburg.com) for more information and to sign up.
